چکیده
153 A pproximately 70% of childhood seizures can be treated successfully with medications. For the 30% of patients who are truly refractory to medical treatment—that is, who have had adequate trials with the appropriate medications—surgery may be an option for controlling the seizures. This article will review how surgical candidates are evaluated and how the surgical approach is tailored to the problem of the individual patient.

making it a good fusion tag for many proteins. Verkhusha and colleagues performed a mutagenesis screen on the monomeric red fluorescent protein mCherry, to identify red photoactivatable variants. The resulting PAmCherry proteins have many desirable properties, including lack of green fluorescence and high single-molecule brightness, making them suited for two-color photoactivated localization m...
متن کاملP153: Evaluating the Effect of Lactobacillus Acidophilus Probiotic Supplementation on Sensory-Motor Recovery After a Traumatic Brain Injury
Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a common cause of death which affects millions of people around the world. TBI is also associated with various neurological impairments. After the primary mechanical injury at the moment of a TBI event, several cellular and molecular processes are activated within the brain tissue as the secondary injury. An important mechanism involved in the secondary injury of...

Recently researchers have identified several short, α-helical peptide sequences that are capable of transporting large protein cargo or hydrophilic molecules such as dyes or drugs through the lipid bilayer into cells. These peptides, known as cellpermeable peptides or transduction peptides, have found applications in both basic research and therapeutic purposes. However, peptides are expensive ...
متن کاملThe Slac Polarized Electron Source and Beam for E-158 T. B. Humensky, for the E-158 Collaboration and the Slac Polarized Electron Source Group
SLAC E-158 is making the first measurement of parity violation in Møller scattering. E-158 measures the right-left cross-section asymmetry, ALR, in the scattering of a 45-GeV polarized electron beam off unpolarized electrons in a liquid hydrogen target. E-158 plans to measure the expected Standard Model asymmetry of ∼ 10 to an accuracy of better than 10. This paper discusses the performance of ...
